Will this fit in the opening of a standard 700-1,000 ml water bottle, such as a Smartwater 700ml bottle or a 1L Platy?

No, for this water purifier to be properly submerged in the water for purification it will need to be in a wide mouth bottle of some kind. A standard water bottle opening is too narrow.
