I’d been hemming and hawing getting a softshell for almost a full year. It’s one of those pieces of gear that can technically be overlapped by other pieces, but it’s also so good at its role that its almost a required piece if you expect anything less than 100% perfect weather. The catch is there’s a wide variety of softshells that all perform and behave differently. One compan... Read more
Pros:
None
Cons:
The hood can sit funny without a helmet
Best Used for:
climbing and mountaineering
Running to your car at lunch
Looking cooler than other people because you aren't wearing TNF or Patagucci (Nothing against them, I am very fond of my gear from both companies, but yeah, we all know what I'm talking about)

Not much info out there about this jacket. Took a chance on it and it’s not leaving my pack for any trip now. Was worried about the fit which happens to be perfect. Almost like it was tailored for me. I’m 6’ 180#s with a 36” sleeve, 43” chest and 32” waist. The XL fits and layers great with a base and fleece or just base. I’ve used it on hikes ranging from 6-22mi on 14ers this ... Read more

This jacket ticks all the boxes: breathable, durable, a hood that actually fits a helmet, and cuffs that accommodate gloves. It is more winter focused due to the cuffs, but I could not imagine a better jacket for ice climbing or winter mountaineering.

The Rab Torque Jacket is a lightweight soft shell meant for alpine endeavors. It is very breathable and stretchy. It will shed light rain, but will wet out in an all out downpour. Good fit. The opposite side zipper takes a little to get used to.

Great jacket; slightly heavier fabric than my other RAB jackets, and more durable. However, the zipper is somewhat awkward, as it has double zippers at the bottom so that when it's zipped up, it can unzip from the bottom.

My intention was to use this with layer options. The sleeves had generous length however just to tight around the forearm area. I would normally wear a large being 6' 175lbs. I ordered a XL. Wore this over a marmot variant jacket medium size and my arms were tight. The rest of the jacket fit great. I was bummed.
