I did my research for an ultralight 2 person hiking tent that was free-standing. This tent is definitely worth it's weight in gold. It's free-standing but the entry way fly has to be staked down otherwise it's just be a tarp lying on top of your pack. It is more of a 1.5 person tent but for a couple it's an excellent fit. We were even able to fit a blow up twin mattress when we went car camping (luxury!). The weight is only a few ounces more then some of the far more expensive UL tents. It also has enough head room to sit up and change inside which is a big bonus. The only downside for me is that the bathtub floor was not high enough, possibly allowing some rain through the mosquito netting if it was coming sideways. I fixed this by sewing 8" of nylon to the base of the netting to raise the sides up a bit. Overall this tent has everything you need for a 1-2 person UL tent at a very low cost (i got mine for $80 total).
