I needed a mid hiking shoe because I need to have a 3/4 inch lift put in the sole of the shoe and needed the additional ankle support. These shoes are the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. I'm 70 and my hips no longer ache while hiking or after hiking. I highly recommend these shoes.
