Altra Olympus
My previous 3 pair of trail shoes have been Hokas. I ran in the Torrents and then switched to the Speedgoats for more cushion. There is nothing amiss with Hoka trail shoes. It is more about finding the right fit for me. I found that I had a tendency to roll my ankle due to the height and drop of the sole on the Speedgoats. My buddy turned me on to the Altra Olympus. I have less than 100 miles on them but the cushion and stability seem great so far.
I have heard rumors of durability issues with these shoes, but so far that is not the case with this pair.

WOW! Finally- a shoe shaped like my foot.
Fit and construction is everything in a shoe, and this is the first trail running shoe I have not had to alter or fuss with. It has a very wide toe box and the rest of the shoe is medium in width, with neutral stability. It feels like it minimizes the discrepancy between my arches better than any shoe I've worn. It is also the best padded (33 mm stack height) zero drop shoe I have seen on the market, so I have a combination of barefoot feel and shock protection. It is true to my usual size, feels very light and the laces stay tied. I use this for fitness walking and hiking. I have already ordered a second pair- the ultimate testimonial.
Pros:
- Fit and feel

Amazing comfort
I have owned several pairs of Altra but these are indeed the best I have worn. The volume is perfect for me. Great cushioning. The carbon color looks terrific. Very pleased with these. Will buy again.
