moxy's Review of Amazonas Trilite Cot

While I was in favor of quick and easy set up this cot will have you begging for muscle power, stamina and patience.. After all, you are setting up a tent, a campsite, and a fire first. You really have to pull with all you can muster to get the poles in and out. Setting up, my son sliced his pinky working the rod into place. Tearing down, I place the rod in my elbow crook b/c my fingers were cold. When leaving camp his middle cot leg got stuck because there is a factory flaw (my husband calls it a bulge) in the rod that I have to sand down. I had to stuff it in the car half done up..dishearten that I couldn't get it out even after hitting it with the tent mallet or having my son sit on the mat while I tried to pull it out. If we were out in the field I would have been toting it back in pieces or left it on the trail.
I love the light weight and it doesn't tip. The sleeping bag straps are uncomfortable. There is a bouncy give to the material which lower back suffers beware. I found myself rolling up a spare sleeping bag and placing it under my knees for support. I love the length, yes they fit in a 2 person tent just fine and the catch bag is great for my glasses and phone. My husband won't use his a wider fellow and he needs more width to sleep.
Pros:
  • length
  • Light weight and durable
  • glasses and phone holder
  • folds and stores easy

Cons:
  • need muscles
  • uncomfortable straps
  • not for wide persons
  • no back support
  • not for hiking
Best Used for:
  • resting
  • weekend camping
  • napping
  • short stay
