UltralightGiant's Review of Asolo TPS 535 LTH V Evo Backpacking Boots - Men's
If a heavy boot doesn't bother you this is a Great boot. Beautiful material and high quality construction. EXTREMLY RIDGID! They don't mention it but these boots DO NOT flex if bending them by hand. Great for stiff crampons and light mountaineering. I do wear a size 15 so the boots weigh a TON, not for ultralighters. Best when used for short distance heavy pack hiking, unless you are trying to strengthen your legs. Only gripe is that no matter how tight I make them I still have a little heel movement which is BAD for long hikes. TIE THEM AS TIGHT AS POSSIBLE. Also every boot needs to be broken in despite what people say, wear these to work/around the house for a couple weeks before going in your trip.
Pros:
high quality
looks good
Vibram sole
Stiff shank
Cons:
Heel moves
Very heavy
Needs better laces
Best Used for:
MOUNTAINEERING
Heavy hiking
