I swam and was able to catch a hold of some rocks when I really needed to. They look good and didnt emanate a bad odor unlike some other kayak shoes we had in the car. I like the laces (and they come with an extra set). Verdict: They’re good shoes, very grippy, but they do fit a tad on the large side compared to other 8’s I’ve worn (size half a size down)
