Bought the bear vault for a JMT trip this summer. Tested it out on a 5 day hike on the Foothills Trail, SC. The vault fits easily inside my Aether 60 and my wife's Ariel 65 packs. Still room to stuff tent and clothes. The only drawback is that it is hard to open with cold fingers. I used the credit card trick on a freezing morning and it opened easily.
