This is an excellent pack, saving about 3lbs., as compared to most full size packs. Yet, it carries like a big frame pack. I bought this back on and editors recommendation in Backpacker magazine. I just finished a two week hike in the High Sierra and couldn't be happier with the pack. I've probably worn out five of the old standard big packs over the years and I doubt I'll ever buy another. While the Helium 55 only weighs 2.25 lbs. it carries a load very comfortably. While rated up to 40lbs. I'm sure I had at least 45lbs. in it at the start. It carried the weight just fine.
The design is very well thought out. I liked the big elastic pockets on the side. The waist band is very comfortable too. Fabric is rugged enough where it counts.
