Insufficient snow safety space!? wtf - Bergans of Norway Istinden 34 L Backpack - Women's

I did a lot of research to find the best ski pack. I was pretty excited to get the Istinden out of the box; it had a lot of cool features and fancy trappings, but then I started transferring gear from my old Dakine Heli 18L and MY PROBE, SHOVEL HANDLE, AND SAW ARE TOO LONG TO FIT IN THE SAFETY POCKET. That seems like an ENORMOUS design flaw. With some cramming the (240cm) probe and (not oversized) handle fit but there's no way to accommodate the saw and I don't want to store that stuff in the main pouch because that's the whole point of having a separate, immediately accessible safety pocket. This may be a flaw of only the women's design, but talk about a massive oversight. I have to return it and continue the hunt, which is a bummer because I liked everything else about this pack.
