For backpacking I had an airpad in the 90's & separate folding chair. Even with patch kit I had leaking problems and resorted to carrying a ridgerest closed cell 'just in case', started just taking the ridgerest along with a chair that fits it.
Rejoining the air mattress world again, I slept soundly on my last trip. Look forward to 2 more this summer.
