Most shade structures are much heavier. This is light enough that you can strap it onto your backpack and go a ways. It's not as tall as many but it can provide much needed relief in hot desert heat. I've experimented with clipping on a sil-nylon or relfectix inner layer to make it like a desert tent with a cooling layer and that has helped a great deal. Check out the video on the Big Agnes site for how to use it; it's a pretty nifty design.

Great Tent ever
My husband and I sat it up today and it was everything advertised and even nicer than I had expected. We have had many tents over the years for backpacking and car camping but as we are entering our 70's we wanted a tent we would not have to crouch in. The height and the front vestibule were exactly as described. Kudos to Big Agnes ( we already have their sleeping bags and ground pads ) for such quality products, kudos to OutlandUSA, and thank you Amazon. Never have paid so much for a tent but you get what you pay for and this is the tent I have always wanted.

Best tent ever
I love this tent! It is light, easy to setup and take down. Very well designed. I also bought the compatible footprint for it. That was a very decision because the tent integrates with the footprint adding greater stability. There was plenty of room for me with my 6 foot 4 inch frame along with my backpack. I slept alone in the tent. However, it would be good for two adult persons. Fitting three adult persons would certainly be a challenge.

Good quality, but difficult to assemble
I purchased the large size and it was too big. It is a little difficult to assemble since the poles are long and you have to feed it through the entire length and width. The tent fabric is great, high quality. What you expect from Big Agnes. I think it would good use for camping as a shade shelter. You have enough space to assemble. I was looking to use this at the beach, but I think it is way too big to try to assemble on the beach.
