Excellent example of hybrid/amphibious shorts - Billabong Crossfire X Mid Length Submersibles Shorts - Men's

Ran into this category in Hawaii a couple years ago, and wanted more. This is a very versatile pair of shorts, can be used with or without a base layer (;-).
The synthetic technical fabric is soft yet resilient, and dries fast.
