This material is very thin and lightweight. I use this over a long sleeve base layer and a down vest over the top for warmth. After breakfast I store the vest in my backpack before hitting the trail. The material stretches and breathes well during heavy activity, sheds water well during brief rain. This jacket will not retain warmth during down time. Can be worn during a wide range of temperatures, I will use it for snowboarding when the temps get to the mid 40s.
