Josh's Review of Black Diamond Couloir Harness
I wore this harness in the Cascades and while it serves its purpose for glacier travel, the leg clasps come undone anytime I put a load on it. We did some crevasse rescue practice and it's a bit unnerving when the leg clasps pop open on you and you're hanging in a crevasse. Also did some high-altitude rock climbing and rappelling and they came undone each time I put my weight on the rope. I understand it's not a climbing harness. But I've seen better designs out there for a lightweight glacier-travel harness and I will be exploring those options.
Pros:
- Ligthweight
- Easy to put on while layered and with boots and crampons.
Cons:
- Plastic leg buckles fail
Best Used for:
- Glacier travel (while not falling in a crevasse).
