Stewart B.'s Review of Black Diamond 50L Creek Backpack
Built with the durability of a haul bag, the Creek 50 is the best crag bag on the market. Why? First of all, the design is extremely simple, it's not busy with straps and zippers and pockets and loops and nooks and crannies all over. It can either sit upright (and not fall over) while you load/unload from the top, or you can lay it down flat and zip it open from the side to expose the entire interior. Very handy. Two, it's big enough to carry a rope and a full rack, plus a day's ration of food and water, plus extra clothing, etc. and keep it all dry. Three, it's got a thick skin and will probably last forever, even if you're giving it rough hauls on multi-pitch. For those who like F&L, this bag might be too heavy at 4.5 lbs., but I'm biased toward a bag that keeps thing dry, gives you room for an extra ration of water and won't blow a hole in a seam ever. No headaches, lots of winning.
Pros:
waterproof
simple design, easy to use
extremely durable
plenty of room for a rope and all the gear
Cons:
None
Best Used for:
climbing
