lula's Review of Black Diamond StormLine Stretch Rain Shell - Women's
This rain jacket gets solid reviews for many reasons so I decided to go with it over TNF Venture 2 jacket. I initially ordered the colour I really wanted, but it was only available in a XXS. Which fit, but it was tight across the bust (and I don't have much for bust). I exchanged it for another colour in an XS and I feel like it is a bit loose. Compared to TNF jacket I find that it is boxier and the sleeves are looser. Being on the small side, I much prefer the tapered waist and the less material hanging off of you the better. The reviews on this one are making it a difficult decision. I love that this item doesn't have velcro anywhere except the cuffs. Velco tends to snag a lot of materials and I always have to take extra care when packing. I also love the visor hood and the helmet compatibility for climbing. The second colour I ordered was a bit more expensive than the original and is about 25% more expensive than TNF jacket when it is on sale. Oh, this jacket also has a cinched hem which is always a bonus for climbers. This jacket definitely wins hands down when it comes to features, but honestly, I'm replacing my Marmot PreCip (from when they were still good) that I never really wear anyway. And yeah, I live in the PNW. I'll eventually make up my mind. Both are equally functional, but one has a better fit and one has better features. I remain undecided. However, it's an amazing jacket and I would highly recommend it. Especially through this website since it seems to have really awesome deals.
Pros:
Lightweight, Packable, Visor Hood, Cinched Hem, Soft Material, Limited Velcro, Quality Material
Cons:
Fit
Best Used for:
I'm hoping climbing and camping -- when weather predictions fail me.
