Dalton's Review of Brooks-Range Mountaineering Drift 20 Semi-Rec Sleeping Bag 850/ DownTek Fill
Caught a great sale on this bag a few months ago when I was looking to upgrade my longtime North Face Cat's Meow that my parents bought me back in high school (also a fantastic bag, BTW). It is quite warm and has an excellent draft collar - despite growing up in Upstate NY and hiking all over the Adirondacks I'm not particularly cold-hardy. Spent a night on Standing Indian that got down to about freezing and was comfortable in long underwear, a fleece, wool socks, and a hat. Even if it's on the heavier side for a down sleeping bag (I'm 6'1" so I got a long), I love it and it's a great piece of gear. Maybe my favorite thing about it is that it's nice and wide - I sleep on my side and toss and turn a lot, so I definitely appreciate having a little room to thrash around. If you sleep in a hammock, this bag also does a good job of avoiding feeling claustrophobic.
Sad to see Brooks-Range going out of business - always thought they were underrated and loved their products. Definitely try to pick up some discounted stuff while you can.
