DIrty Paws's Review of CamelBak Cloud Walker Hydration Pack
Today I hiked Hook Mountain in Northern Idaho with this bad boy, the weather was 40 degrees needless to say this was a day of a tuff hike. I loaded it up with first aid kit, a tarp, some paracord, snacks, and I filled up the 2liter pouch PLUS an additional 3 frozen water bottles with it and this got me through the day. The pack fitted me perfectly (I'm 6,1 230lbs) and it always felt secure on my back while not moving around too much. Additionally the air channel which I thought was a gimmick actually legitimately works as most of the sweat from my back went on the sides of the pack and stayed away from the middle which allowed some breathing room for me. The water lasted me through the whole 4 hour trip and I wasn't being conservative either I drank like there was no tomorrow because me and the heat have never been on good terms. I used the frozen water bottle I kept inside near the pouch (in addition to 5 ice cubes i put in the pouch) to keep my water ice cold throughout the ENTIRE 4 hour trip. I kept two frozen water bottles on the outside to drink in case I needed more water, I also used the frozen water bottles to keep on the back of my neck to cool my blood while i drank the ice cold water. This pack performed better then I expected and I was surprised at how light I kept it as I tend to be a bit of a over packer. I was just happy the pack NEVER felt like a burden to me while going up the mountain, it made it all the more easier for me by having quick access to my water and keeping my stuff together in a nicely balanced backpack. I definitely recommend this for hikes and I use the camelbak classic for light trails.
