hermitwannabe's Review of CamelBak Pursuit 24L Backpack w/3L Resevoir
Priced right, retail was about $150-$160 but got it here on Campsaver for $72.40 (I used a 10% discount code that I received from them when I first signed up, thanks Campsaver!). I was looking for a dayhike bag in the $100-$120 range so when I saw the price on this one, I had to get it.
Haven't had a chance to use this backpack out in the field yet but, after extensive research and considering brands such as Gregory, Osprey, REI, and Camelbak (all great brands by the way) I decided to go with this Camelbak Pursuit 24L for the following reasons:
1) I needed a slightly larger daypack than the 10 Liter bicycle hydration pack I was using as I'm getting into photography on my hikes and need a bigger pack
2) I liked that this pack's hydration system sits low on the hips rather than all along the spine of your back and that the water bladder was 3 liters
3) I was also looking for a pack that was rigid but had a breathable mesh back, had ample storage, side mesh bottle holders, and a stretchy front mesh pocket.
4) Lastly, I was looking for a pack that could be used not only for hiking but as a pack for short weekend trips while staying in a hotel or Air BnB.
The one item that would have made this the perfect bag for me was if it had a small admin pocket with multiple mini compartments for things like pens, chapstick, pocketknife, and other small "convenience" items that I like to carry
