I live in carbondale, co. It is not far from Paonia, the birthplace of the Chaco. I have friends that know the people that started the company. I have been a loyal customer for a very long time. Every pair of chacos I have ever bought have had vibram soles and were made in Colorado. Buying and wearing a sandal that was produced in a community I admire made me feel proud. I wasn't just buying a great sandal. I was making an investment that benefited the people of Paonia, Colorado. That is not the case anymore. I was saddened to see they are no longer made by my peers on the other side of McClure pass. Now, my chacos are made in China. I still have a pair that was made in Colorado. There is a noticeable difference between my Colorado chacos and my China chacos. I will continue to be a Chaco customer regardless because they are the best sandals for rafting. Just trying to keep it honest and real.
