Schnook's Review of Danner Mountain Light Hiking Shoes - Women's
I bought the Danner Mtn Light Cascade in a size 8 and were a gift for my daughter . After endlessly searching for these boots, I decided to go with CampSaver for my purchase. They had the best price and reviews. I was a little skeptical about the sizing due to numerous reviews and the Danner website says to buy a half size smaller. Well, my daughter wears a size 8 and I wear a size 7 1/2. Her feet are more narrow and my feet are wider. My daughter is constantly buying shoes that are too small- thinks her feet look big? I received the boots and there is no real foot bed liner- orthotics or insole. This is fine because I have read the liner that sometimes comes with the boots is just a hard plastic half boot insole that fits the heel area. Now, back to size. I purchased a memory foam insole and a real sheepskin insole. When trying on the boots without the insole and thick angora socks my daughter said they fit fine. With the memory foam insoles in the boot, she said that it snuggles her foot more. For me, keep in mind I wear a 7 1/2 with thick angora socks the toe box was more roomy (not gigantic just more roomy), but with the memory foam insoles they fit and felt great. We did not try the sheep skin insoles yet, but keep they will be thicker at first then mat down over time. I purchased the Smartwool Hiking socks in small also. They are a little thicker then the angora socks, but are a great sock and small was the right size. Overall, this was a great purchase and Campsaver customer service was great. As for break in period on these, all good boots that are sturdy and real leather need to be broken in and some take longer then others. She has worn them twice for a few hours at a time with no complaints. I had a couple questions about my purchase and the employees I spoke with were able to answer them and were fantastic!! Thank you Campsaver for a great price, purchase, and customer service.
