Incredible bag for variable terrain - Eagle Creek Cargo Hauler XT Wheel 90L Duffel

If I am traveling in and around cities, my medium Away suitcase is my bag of choice. But for my upcoming trip to the Philippines and Japan, I know I will be visiting islands where the roads are few and far between, and the sandy paths are plenty. This rolling duffle is perfect. I packed it up last night and it balances well in the standing position (a must for checking in and out of hotels or waiting for ferries etc.). The handle feels smooth and sturdy. But equally as important, it takes about 20 seconds to assemble the backpack straps so I can carry the pack over sandy or rocky terrain. The 90L pack looks bigger on my 5'6" frame than it does on the model in the photos, but it is surprisingly comfortable and I was easily able to walk up and down stairs with it. If you are checking the bag on an airline, be careful that its large volume doesn't lead you to exceed the weight limit. You can fit A LOT in here. When the bag is standing upright, the top is a separate compartment for shoes or food or dirty laundry. The main compartment is one large cavern, so it definitely benefits from having some packing cubes to organize your stuff. I practiced spraying the exterior of the bag with a hose to test its waterproofness, and everything inside stayed perfectly dry. I am confident it will protect my clothes and gear from errant waves on a boat or downpours while waiting on the tarmac. If you are looking for an all-terrain bag to keep up with you on your next adventure, this is it. Also, the teal color is gorgeous :).
