BuckeyeKev's Review of Eureka Suma 2-Person Tent

I needed a 3 season tent for bike-packing....something relatively light-weight, compact, durable, roomy and affordable. Not being a hardcore adventurist, I couldn't justify spending almost $500 for a Tier 1 Ultralight product, nor did I want to skimp by going the discount store route. That left the usual suspects in the $125-$175 range. After extensive research, the Eureka Suma 2 rose to the top of the list by ticking all the boxes. You'd have a hard time finding a sub four-pound 2P tent with these features at this price point. One reason the Suma 2 saves weight is by having just 1 door. And there's no skimping on features....simple X-Pole set-up, pole roof-clips (not pockets), improved headroom due to asymmetrical design, reflective guy lines, pop-up roof vent, multiple interior storage pockets and a side door with a huge vestibule. The only changes I'd like to see are a second roof vent and a dual fly door zipper so you could un-zip from the bottom or top of the door to see what's happening outside, like when animals start snooping around at night! Additionally, to fully guy out the fly, you'll need 4 more stakes than what's provided. I called Eureka and they quickly shipped me 4 stakes at no charge. Not surprising, because this is our 3rd Eureka tent and they've always stood behind their products. And this was our first purchase with campsaver.com. No problems with the transaction or communications. Always able to get someone by phone or email when we needed to, so we'd have no problem in buying from them again.
