Jay's Review of Evolv Phantom Climbing Shoe - Men's
I am a few sessions into climbing with the Phantoms after climbing in the Agro for 4 years. They stopped making Agro so I switched to these as they seem to be close in construction. I downsized half a size from my Agros for a more aggressive fit.
Pros:
1. They are comfortable on my wide foot.
2. The heel fits more snug.
3. The tensioning system allows for a tighter overall fit with less dead space
Cons:
1. So far I'm finding that edging is more difficult as the toe is not as sensitive
2. The velcro strap and tensioning system require more adjusting and their length is not a good fit for the shoe as the strap is too long and overshoots the velcro unless it is extra tight.
3. The aggressive toe makes it uncomfortable to land on your feet when you jump down from climbs as your feet are in a curled up position
Overall I still like them and think they will take some getting used to.
