JAMath's Review of Evolv Spark Climbing Shoe - Men's
The spark is a decent beginning to intermediate shoe be careful on the sizing and take note of some of the strengths and weaknesses of the construction. FIT: Evolv recommends sizing as per your street shoe. Do Not Size Down! I typically where a 10.5 or 11 in my street shoes and purchased a 10.5. They are a bit small for all day multi-pitch routes at the moment but they are not fully broken in. My toes are curled up quite a bit after numerous break in sessions. The leather has stretched a bit but the high runner up the sides and synthetic liner on these limit the stretch in the leather. Also, if you have wider feet these may not be great. I have such wide feet. The shoes are ok for this but the heel doesn’t feel as secure as other shoes I’ve had. FORM: overall good construction. On the front sole, it is very easy to see the ‘horseshoe’ of extra rubber around the edge of the shoe - not such a big deal but just a note. Function: the hold and edging isn’t fantastic but is sufficient for anyone that is going to be happy with a sub 90 dollar shoe. If you want more you will likely need to pay for it. OVERALL: great value, just pay attention to the fit and your foot. Try these on at a store if you can and realize they will stretch a bit.
