I looked at the different options for kid's climbing shoes; La Sportiva,(weak shoelace width connector to velcro strap, otherwise seemed nice), Mad Monkey(hard to find, reviews were o.k) and Evolv. This is a well made shoe, with nubuck exterior, and a very well lined, comfortable interior. The strap is wide and strong, as is the velcro. The fit for our daughter, age 7, was one size up from her Kee
