BMPUSMC's Review of Exped Downmat XP 9 Sleeping Pad
This is a great sleeping pad for cold weather. I have now used it multiple nights in 25°F-35°F temperature ranges. I used it on an ALPS Mountaineering Ready Lite Cot and a Kelty 0°F Ignite sleeping bag. I didnt zip up the sleeping bag, I only draped it over me. I slept in only briefs and a t-shirt. Im mostly a side sleeper. Before using this pad I had slept a few nights with only the cot and zipping up in the sleeping bag. Its was bearable but chilly. With this pad it made it really warm. I was impressed with the difference it made. Really easy to air up with the enclosed pouch pump. 3 nights and i havent needed to add air yet. I have the long version. Im 6'2" and 255lbs. It supports my weight so far and with my head at the top i have to stretch my toes out straight to touch the other end. This is one of the highest r-rated and lowest weight pads i could find at the moment and couldnt be happier.
Pros:
- durable
- Very warm
- easy to inflate
- Great thickness
Cons:
- None so far for whats available on the market
Best Used for:
- Camping and i would personally even use it for hiking
Would Recommend:
