YouTube reviews of the Orion III tent claim a footprint’s not necessary UNLESS camping on dirt or rocks. Well that’s exactly where I was two days after Christmas. A buddy & I were in Death Valley halfway between Greenwater Rd. & Hwy 127 in the southeast corner of the park. Strong winds, low temps & beautiful scenery. Camped 1/2 mile off 2 track trail in a gully with some protection from the weather. The footprint made me feel a lot better about breaking in my brand new tent...
