Scoutmaster Merinda's Review of Featherstone Outdoor Moondance 25 Top Quilt Sleeping Bag Alternative
I have been eying quilts for a couple years but hate to spend so much. I am a hammocking scoutmaster with a ground-dwelling Philmont adventure on my 2024 calendar and the first backpacking shakedown was this week. Last week saw this quilt for real and decided to pull the trigger. Just in the Nick of time, because my Kelty 0-degree bag wasn’t going to allow me food or water on this trip. Campsaver got it to me in 2 days and I pulled it out of the box and dropped it in my pack. Unwrapped at first campsite and fluffed it up before making dinner. It is a game changer. It allowed me to roll over and find a comfy spot on my klymit pad every hour or so. I was warm in the High Uintahs. I sleep super cold and this was dreamy. I’m 5’11” and probably want the tall version before too long; but the regular was ok and my daughter wants one, too, so she’ll get this one as soon as I can pump out enough plasma for another. Game changer. I don’t see myself buying another sleeping bag. Ever.
Pros:
Weight, warmth, straps, zipper, cinch cord
Cons:
None

Sleeping :)
