Quality specialized jacket, but not for everyone - tux with tails meets the arctic - Fjallraven Arktis Parka

First of all, this jacket appears to be quite well made, and tough as nails, as advertised. The jacket is has heavy duty snaps, zippers and other items, which look like they can withstand years of use. Also, I did like the color combination in Grey. It looks better than it did online. For the right person, it is a specialized winter item that likely helps with activities like winter camping, etc. It has tons of pockets too. The hood is large and deep, so it looks like you can really zip yourself into it if it gets really cold.
That said, there are a few items that may not be for everyone:
(1) the tail: this jacket has a tail, very similar in length to a tuxedo tail. It is meant for sitting on in cold weather. It is a great idea for the hardcore enthusiast. It comes down to just about the back of the knee. If you need it, you will probably love it. However, it is a bit like wearing a tux with tails on your winter jaunt. You will either like it or you won't, but they don't do the greatest job showing you the length in most online pictures. This makes this quite a specialized item.
(2) the size: the jacket is meant to be layered, so it fits big. I tried on a Yupik at the store, and a small fit well. I am 5'7", and the Arktis was slightly large in length, but it was quite large within the jacket, and I felt like I could wear another parka underneath. While it might be right occasionally, it felt like I had too much space inside to really take advantage of a the insulation. If you think that you might want the jacket, just order two sizes, because it fits like a jacket 1-2 sizes larger. I tried a small, and I would need to order an extra small in this particular model.
(3) adjustments: Given the size, I thought that they could do better to make things quite adjustable. While the hood had some adjustments in the back, it was not adjustable enough, and ended up feeling quite big. Also, the cords used to seal out the wind are a bit awkward given the length of the tail. Other parkas by Fjallraven seem to have more precise adjustments in many areas. However, I did like the both cuffs on the sleeves and the hood sealed out the wind quite well.
