Well overpriced, could be warmer, there's an issue with the size - Fjallraven Greenland Winter Jacket - Mens

I am not quite sure why this jacket is so expensive. I bought it at a huge discount. Had I had to pay the full price I believe I would have regretted it. Why? Well, the jacket doesn't look very special or high quality. It looks just okay. So, you pay for the name and, perhaps, for the quality you count on, which is supposed to go with the name Fjallraven. Moreover, the inner insulation is no more than okay, not really warm for a really cold winter, and the sleeves aren't insulated at all. I guess this can be solved with proper layering, though. As for the “You buy it for life” gimmick, you are to choose whether this is something of value to you enough to pay that much money.

As for the size, multiple reviewers all over the Internet have warned to go with a smaller size, given the jacket is oversized. But here is the rub: only the older model of the jacket, going under the code name F81434, is oversized. This model is currently out of stock on the Fjallraven site but is still sold in some other places online, usually at a discount. Based on the Fjallraven size chart I should have ordered the jacket in XL, but had I done that I would have purchased a parachute, not a jacket. How do I know that? Well, I have been able to try on both models. The newer is not oversized at all. Size L of the newer felt small on me whilst size L of the older felt somewhat big. The newer model is, therefore, not oversized at all and also looks more expensive and simply somehow better. So, make sure what version you are buying and take in the right size.
