BPuttkammer's Review of Garmin Tacx Flux S Smart Bike Trainer
I got the trainer looking for a way to ride this winter. I used to go to the gym and teach spin but with the current conditions, I am going to stay home and workout this season. The Tacx Flux is a great smart trainer. Setup is easy and you can get by with just a few additional items: cassette for your bike, wheel block (not needed but helpful), ANT+ dongle for connecting to a MAC/PC and then a few apps on the MAC/PC and phone. I downloaded the Tacx app and also Zwift. After using both I like the smoothness of the flywheel, but would like it to be a little heavier. You can get that for paying a bit more on an upgraded trainer. The other issue I have is the rocking. I might need some sandbags for standing sprints to keep the legs stable and to prevent frame damage. I strongly suggest doing a 10 minute warmup and then calibration, with each software app you use. This will help you see more accurate readings. I was seeing very low wattage prior to the calibration.
Pros:
easy setup
Cons:
Light Flywheel
Best Used for:
Zwift
Would Recommend:
Yes
