Albert B.'s Review of Helinox Beach Chair
Just received the chair. The frame goes together like other Helinox products, with the shock cord just roll it around and parts snap in place. it only takes seconds. The cover fits tight. Follow the directions, put the back over the supports first. Then stretch the seat over one support. It takes a little effort. The other seat support takes more effort and some bending of the aluminum support. The Helinox frame can take it. Just when you think it maybe to much it pops into the fabric pocket. The seat sits low to the ground. When your in it the fabric stretches and your butt is only about 4 to 6 inches from the ground. Quite a bit lower than the sunset chair for example. I love the high back for comfort. I can rest my head and the bag can be used as a pillow. Just stuff a shirt, towel, or jacket in it. Zip it up and it velcro’s to the seat back. Great feature. Nap time. I haven’t tried it in sand, but, the oversized feet pads should provide enough flotation to keep from settling to deeply in the sand. People that have trouble getting out of a chair will have a hard time standing up without help because of how low you sit in this chair. Those folks would be happier with the Sunset Chair because they are higher off the ground. The cloth seats of the chairs are interchangeable between the Beach Chair and the Sunset Chair. (I have both and tried it) The legs of the Sunset Chair are made for hard surfaces and will sink into sand easily. There are ways to make them resist sinking. The simplest I found on You Tube involves using some white PVC pipe. Look it up.
