Tim from VT's Review of Kelly Kettle Pot Support

This is most useful for heating small quantities that will cook rapidly. For more complicated cooking, the hobo stove is far superior, for several reasons. It is more stable, far closer to the ground (thus safer), and will hold a much larger pan. The most obvious argument for the hobo stove is that you can boil water, make drinks, and then cook your meal. As the kettle should never be heated dry, you are in a position of either boiling away precious water while waiting for whatever's on the top to be done, or boiling twice as much water as you need. In regard to build quality and simplicity, you cannot fault this. It will probably last a lifetime. It's inexpensive. However, the hobo stove is far more versatile and practical, and simpler, if you're trying to decide between the two.
