Kelts Redwing 44
Good backpack but the side pockets seem to be made out cheap material which needs to change completely. I’d prefer the net pockets! The other materials and design are really good and kept the person carrying it in mind .... the aluminum spine frame which can be removed is a good idea!

solid pack, holds a lot
I purchased this just a few months ago, but perhaps I was sent an older model than the one showing now on the website, because mine has an exposed metal bar on the back that wasn't shown online. That is my only complaint and I might not have purchased if I knew that. I got this for my son, and it holds a ton and holds up well. We packed light for a 3 week trip to Madagascar and this held everything he needed with room to spare, and we had no problem fitting it in overhead bins as carry-on luggage (on a total of 8 planes over the course of our trip). If you are very thin (my son is 5' 10" and 125 lbs, the waist belt might be too loose for you).

Very comfy, better than the 2015 model
On Amazon some people said it was not as comfy. I traded in my 2015 model to this one and this one feels better. It's lighter by about 9oz and should have a little more room. The waist buckle area also felt better. The older one had a better color (tan) and because it was heavier also felt sturdier. But with a lifetime guarantee, I will see how this one stands up.

Kelty fan
I love this pack. I use it mostly for rock climbing in Joshua tree. My family and I will hike in 1-2 miles, pick a spot to top rope and have a nice day. It holds my rope, 2 pairs of climbing shoes, 2 harnesses and my pro. It's about 30 pounds of gear. I've had this pack a year and it has held up very well. I steward my gear well, but JT rocks are unforgiving. The zippers are tough, the pockets are well sized and designed to make things easily accessible. It's also very comfortable and can be balanced well. I will pursue purchasing the redwing 32 to use as my carry on bag. A+ Kelty.
