Love it but wish it was more comfortable - Kelty Transit 3.0 Child Carrier

I really want to love this backpack, but I can't seem to get it comfortable enough so that my upper back isn't killing me 15 minutes into my hike. I've tried positioning my baby lower and higher, and adjusted the lumbar, but still there's no way I could take this on a day hike or even an hour-long hike. :(
