I will use my phrase: Buy nice or buy twice. This my friends, is hands down one of my favorite camp gadgets. This is buying NICE! Lightweight, the size of an iPhone, waterproof, solar powered, and less than $30. Those words are music to backpackers ears!
This lamp has replaced my big battery powered lanterns when I go Car Camping/Glamping. It’s small enough though that I can put it in my pack (or on it) and take it with me on long trips. Only weighing 2.9 oz, you won’t regret clipping it to the outside of your pack or putting it in a first aid kit for emergency lighting.
I have taken this with me on trips to Southern Utah, a really great place for solar. I had the lamp clipped to my backpack all day while I was hiking some slot canyons. Keep in mind, I was covered in shadow just as much as I was exposed to the sun. This lamp didn’t let me down! I had plenty of light all night, I even kept it on outside of my tent, not because I am afraid of the dark, but for science! It stayed on all night and never ran out of power. The sun came up before it had a chance to go out!
I have also taken it with me to some local hot springs… Awesome way to light up a date! The PackLite inflates to the size of a small throw pillow. (I know what a throw pillow is because my Girlfriend has 34 of them on her bed… I mean, what’s the point?) It’s great to inflate and toss on the water for a little late night swim, or use the handle or clip ring to hang it on a tree. It will easily light up a small campsite. We don’t use headlamps at dinner while camping anymore, we just put the PackLite on the table and it is more than enough light to see each other and our food.
