Beta Spewer's Review of Mad Rock Drone HV Mens Climbing Shoes
I ordered these shoes for training because my solutions were killing my feet for indurance training. When they arrived I could barely get them on my feet but I wore them around the house and then climbed in them and they broke in quite nicely. The shoe is not very down turned but it feels very good when your climbing. As far as sizing goes,my street shoe size is 9.5, 10 ( 42.5, 43) and I ordered a 9.5 thinking they would be a little big because mad rock says buy your street size for semi tight fit but when they arrived as already mentioned I could barely get them on my feet. the shoe has a very skinny toe box and my pinkie toe was in a lot of pain for the first two days of wearing them. The edging on the shoe is okay but it could really be better, in the transition from sole to toe rubber the toe rubber has no support while the sole is very firm which means when you go up on your toes the sole roles into the softer rubber making it be very hard to stay on the foothold. As far as the heel goes it is no ware near as good as the solution I found myself slipping off of simple heels wear I could stay all day in the solution. over all the heel is not that bad but i do not like the three d molding the little ledge makes for weird and unstable transitioning. The main reason I bought this shoe is because of the massive toe patch, it really is as good as they say you don't have to be precise just slap it on. All in all it is a pretty good shoe( even the hv is definitely better for skinny feet ) with decent edging, and heel and a great toe hook.
Pros:
great toe hook
Cons:
narrow fit not great heel,edge
Best Used for:
Indoor bouldering
Would Recommend:
Yes
