CS's Review of Mammut Nordic Down 3-Season Sleeping Bag, 23 F
This is a review for the green bag, size: Long. It's hard to find info on this bag anywhere. Like Cdub122 says, the tag lists it as "Camp Down" not "Nordic Down". Not that there's any info on Camp Down out there. In any case, here are all the specs, since none of these sellers bother to list them anywhere:
Comfort: 68F to 32F (20C to 0C)
Transition: 32F to 23F (0C to -5C)
Risk/Limit: 23F to -9.4F (-5C to -23C)
Fill: 650 Down CUIN. The main tag further specifies "80/20" and the tiny interior tag says "80% White duck down / 20% White duck feather"
Lining: 100% Polyester
Weight: Tag claims 1150g (40.57 Oz = 2 lbs, 8.57 Oz)
Weight according to my scale with no bag: 1144g (40.35 Oz = 2lbs, 8.35 Oz)
Fill weight: Tag claims 450g
Volume: Tag claims 6.1 Litres
My subjective opinion:
This bag is incredible compared to the heavier, much smaller bag it replaced. It is incredibly lofty, and seems to almost inflate. I'm a big ol' dude at 6', 210 lbs (182.88 cm, 95.25 kg) and I have plenty of room inside. So bizarre to lay in a sleeping bag and not feel like my arms are being squeezed against my body. And there is a ton of room for your feet. This site says it has a "trapezoidal shape" footbox, so I guess that's why. Maybe I'm just used to cheap bags, but this is far and away better than any I've experienced, and you absolutely can't beat it at this sale price (I payed $79.99). It definitely feels like a premium item.
If I had to list a "con", it's that the zipper doesn't go all the way down. It comes to about my mid calf. But it also has a 2-way zipper, so you can zip it all the way up, but reach down and open a hole to stick your leg out, or let some air in.
All in all, 11/10, would buy again.
Pros:
weight
Warmth
length
Width
Footbox excellent
loft is good
Cons:
None
Would Recommend:
Yes
