I normally wear a size 34 waist but having read a review of these shorts on another website where the person said the 34s were skin tight and doubted even that 36s would fit, I elected to order a 38 waist. Unfortunately, those were a little too big so I'm ordering a 36 waist. Bottom line, unless you're built like a greyhound, I suggest ordering one size up. If you have thighs like tree trunks, you might want to order 2 sizes up but will likely need the waist taken in if you want a perfect fit.
