I have a 31" inseam so the XL is an inch longer than I need it to be with ski boots on, probably annoyingly long with my mountaineering boots if worn without gaitors.
The waist on the XL is a true 38", so if you prefer a relaxed fit you won't get it.
The pockets on the torso allow for easy access, I-phone, trail maps, keys all tuck away and don't restrict movement at all.
The upper is stretchy
