Debbie's Review of Marmot Kristina Jacket - Women's
I am very happy with this jacket. It is lightweight yet substantial; the outer fabric is water and wind proof and much more substantial than the thin very lightweight performance type Jackets. I have not felt even a stiff wind, and was warm in 40 degree temps without layering. The lining is substantial and down ( no feathers since the insulation is all down)
has not poked out the way it does in cheaper jackets. There is a zippered pocket underneath the magnetic storm flap ( no Velcro to catch on sweaters which is a nice touch) big enough for my phone /small wallet which can be accessed without unzipping the jacket. That is a thoughtful feature that allows me to reach either without unzipping the jacket, but still keeps both secure. I bought the marmot Stollbrige a few years ago, and while I find that it is softer it is not nearly as warm, since it is not windproof and just turns heavy and wet in the rain/sleet. Nice 3/4 length which is long enough to keep me warm but not so long as to be cumbersome to move around in.
The disadvantages: outer fabric is stiffer and thus less comfortable than softer, thinner jackets ,and I don’t like the large flaps covering the handwarmer pockets. The sizing seems
A bit odd to me. I have small shoulders and am only 5’ 3” yet the xsmall shoulders were tight. The small fit better but the shoulders are still smaller than I would have expected.
Still, those are minor issues for a well made good quality warm yet lightweight versatile winter jacket.
Best Used for:
Cold wet winter weather
