"..lightweight core body protection." I bought this vest because I liked a similar product from Montane, the Ice Guide jacket, and I just could not wear that in temps greater than 40F-way too hot. Turns out, the Prism vest is very comfy in the 40-60F range, depending on wind and sunshine levels. It is an extremely light piece of gear, just over a pound in the Large size. Its fit is a bit looser than the Ice Guide's; you can wear more than a light knit shirt under it and still have great freedom of movement.
Montane extolls the virtues of its Pertex fabric. I found that winds of over 20mph will penetrate. May not be a problem in the mid-temps the vest is intended for. Regarding water resistance, I am opposed in principle to considering a vest as raingear. For fair weather, a vest is great.
The vest is styled conservatively, and the brand logos are discreet. Be aware that the main zipper is Euro-style, slider on the left; can cause a momentary hesitation for North Americans.
