The grip is only restricted when needing the utmost of dexterity.... but dexterity is NOT what these are made for! These are for WARMTH and fighting the extreme tempretures of snow, ice, cold..... if you're in the super cold or the worst of conditions, don't be afraid of your regular size (or to size up by one click, like I did, in order to wear extra layers like a merino glove liner OR a fleece glove for those ABSOLUTE worst of times.) EVERYTHING about this mitt screams quality and warmth. Do you want to PROTECT the precious value of the prized asset of your hands? These are made for just that! These are tools. Any purchaser or would be purchaser should understand and embrace the differing levels of gloves/mitts as the tools they all are. And these mitts are top of the line serious tools for guarding your hands! Please keep in mind, NO glove or mitt can by itself carry you through ALL conditions. That is why there are MANY differing types and ranges of gloves. These though are for carrying you through really tough, really cold conditions. I dislike reviews expecting any one glove or mitt to meet one's every expectation. Get real. If you happen to be entering really cold conditions and/or have a propensity for chilly hands, these should do the trick. There really are not much else in this range. Perhaps Acrteryx Alpha SV or Wiggy's. But that's it. And these Mtn HrdWr Abs Zero are plush, tough, top of the line cold fighters for conditions you need to protect against if your really IN IT!! In short words, they are really F'ing nice mitts!!
