Reviews & Ratings for Mountain Hardwear EV 3 Tent - 3 Person, 4 Season
— 8 reviews — Page 1
Fantastic quick setup. Free standing useful for shifting around until the ideal spot is located but obviously should be anchored for the Vermont winds and changeable weather. Honestly the condensation issue is my fault for not opening the vets properly. Good room for gear extremely roomy for 2 + gear. Best friends only for 3 + gear! :)

I bought this tent from Campsaver a couple years ago. Since then, it has been used all throughout the Sierras. Its been under sequoias in the summer, anchored into 10 feet of ice, and used to ride out a nasty windy thunderstorms. Other than a couple gear-related floor punctures (nothing a little duct tape can't handle), it still looks brand new and has many years of adventures and challenges ahead of it. In fact, we did a trip Hetch Hetchy to a mostly frozen Lake Vernon in February and we were pretty happy to have this tent when the temperatures dropped to the low teens at night. Too bad Mountain Hardwear discontinued this because it really is a perfect tent engineered for serious backpackers and mountaineers.
Pros:
Rock solid
Weight is decent for the strength
Low condensation with vents open
Interior vestibule is perfect for cooking when its freezing outside
Easy to setup and breakdown even with cold fingers
Cons:
A little warm on summer nights
Front zipper doors often get stuck
Best Used for:
MOUNTAINEERING
snow camping
harsh conditions

As experienced Alpinist I can give myself permission to talk, about things like this! I probably won't say anything new, but you asked, and here is my thoughts... Mountain Hardwear EV3 is simply the best 4 season tent on the market! One wall... durable, best weight for a 3people tent and enough room for 3 people (short) trips! If you need to stay longer up there I would suggest no more then 2 people with all the gear. If you looking for the best, you just go with EV3. And one more thing, it look dead "sexy" especially when is set up between the other tents! Rock on
