mo's Review of Mountain Hardwear StretchDown RS Jacket - Women's
I was shopping around for a down jacket I can take backpacking and would keep me warm camping in the 30s. I hesitated to get this jacket because I couldn't find consistent information on whether this jacket was packable (or very many reviews), but it does pack into one of its pockets that has a zipper labeled 'stow' although it is a bit of a tight squeeze (but I think most of these packable jackets are a bit of a tight squeeze to pack anyways). I've only worn it around the house, but to me it feels a bit warmer than the patagonia down sweater, which is another jacket I was considering. I noticed many other packable jackets similar to this usually had higher fill power (800 instead of 750) but I think it makes up for it (or might even be warmer) with more fill. The collar is taller than other jackets I tried but I prefer it this way for cold days because I get cold easily. I was also considering the ghost whisperer, but decided on this because the fabric seemed more robust to tears when I have backpack straps rubbing against it although it is bulkier. I'm excited to try it out backpacking and although my use of it is limited as of now, I feel it's a great match for what I was looking for.
