I have owned and used my Whisperlite stove on hiking and backpacking trips for over 15 years. With the maintainance kit, the stove and pump can be practically rebuilt as needed to keep them working great. It boils water like nobody's business. Simmering can be done, but the stove has to be adjusted constantly and cleaned to prevent the jet from becoming blocked. The base doesn't adjust so you
