I tried several ways to attach item to my pack. I settled on securing to my hip belt. Low, out of the way, not sweaty and I access water with either hand.
Water pouch will fit 1L nalgene. Tightening the draw string will secure smaller diameter Smart Water bottles.
The highlight of this rig is that the zippered pocket is sized just right for AWOL's A.T. guide.
